Grüß Gott
Checking on Austrian (.at) Domain Names, I find it amazing how few .at domains have been sold in the last 7 month or offered for sale on the market at any time. Admittingly, a country with a population of only 8,5 million, might not be big enough to dominate domain sales headlines, but it still is amazing, how few domains are currently offered throught auctions or have been sold since the beginning of 2010.
Checking the latest domain sales figures from DNJournal on country code domain sales, one could think dot-at hasn’t been invented yet. The top one hundred ccTLDs (country code top level domains) sold since the beginning of 2010 only show two (2) dot-at domains; Plenty.at and Aegypten.at with any significant sell price.
The situation is not better at current marketplace auctions running at SEDO (as of July 13, 2010; 5:00 pm). Besides the usual top level domains like .com, .net and so forth, there even are such lesser wanted ones as .me .name and .cc offered for sale but not a single .at.
GoDaddy on his 'Featured Domains' page with 'pre-defined' option does not even offer the possibility to sort domains by .at extension.
Maybe, similar to South Africa, Austrians prefer .com, .net and other TLDs as their extension. The grip the .com extension has asserted and still does assert onto the world, still is powerful and almost omni-present. Or Österreich is simply saturated with all the dot-at domain names that they need right now.
But business owners in a country like Austria and local entrepreneurs who do business locally, don't need to search for high priced and hard to obtain .com domains when, right at home, they can easily find what fits their needs.
For those down to earth entrepreneurs and smart merchants I like to suggest a few German and English .at domains for sale. Servus.
